A custom guest suite has one job: make people actually want to stay. This one pulls it off with two built-in beds, a matching pair of book nooks, and a bathroom with enough personality to make the whole space memorable.
Builder: Burg Homes LLC
Soft striped wallpaper and a pale green trim set a relaxed, cottage-like tone in the sleeping area, with the built-in beds and bookshelf niches finished in a rich stained wood that grounds the room. The attached bathroom takes a different direction entirely while staying cohesive with color, built around a black-and-white checkerboard tile pattern with brass fixtures throughout. This design nailed a playful vibe without tipping into strictly “kids only” territory.
Two built-in beds sit on deep storage bases, each paired with its own book nook niche built directly into the wall above. The niches weren’t placed by eyeballing anything. The tops were lined up to match the trim height of the windows, with the base of each niche flushing out with the top of the mattress, so the whole wall reads as one connected, planned-out design rather than a shelf added on afterward.
In the bathroom, a vanity with under-cabinet lighting sits scribed directly to the floor, paired with a checkerboard-tiled shower and tub combo behind a glass door. The layout gives two people real room to get ready side by side, with enough storage and counter space to keep it from feeling crowded.
This guest suite was built in Green Lake, and it’s a great example of how much personality a space can have without sacrificing real function. Bigfoot Construction builds suites like this for homeowners throughout Eastern Wisconsin, including Appleton, Madison, Milwaukee, Kohler, Elkhart Lake, and Green Bay.
