This custom kitchen cabinetry was designed to be lived in, not just looked at – although we could spend all day doing that! It shows in the small stuff as much as the showpieces. It’s the kind of space where the obvious features (the hood, the backsplash) get the first glance, but the drawer-level details are what actually make it work day to day.

Soft ash rose cabinetry runs the full length of the room, paired with glass-door uppers and a backlit quartz backsplash that glows warm gold behind the range. It’s a striking color for a kitchen, and it’s exactly the kind of risk this project’s design work leans into throughout the house. The cabinetry itself is real wood, which matters most in a kitchen, where cabinets take the most daily wear of any room in the house.
The centerpiece is a custom range hood, 92 inches wide and built entirely from scratch – nothing off-the-shelf about it. Below, a full run of real wood cabinetry hides a genuinely thoughtful list of details: a seating island with custom utensil holders built into the drawer itself, adjustable soft-close rollouts throughout, a utentil and knife drawer with a knife holder that lets you place your knives safely anywhere inside, a dedicated vegetable sink with its own rollout, cookie sheet and cutting board dividers, and a turntable spice rack tucked right next to the range.
Because this family has a dog, there’s also a fully built-in pet food and water station with brass bowls set right into the countertop, a detail that’s easy to miss in photos and impossible to miss in daily use.
