Square footage doesn’t dictate quality of life—smart small kitchen design does. This compact kitchen project demonstrates how Bigfoot Construction approaches space constraints not as limitations but as design opportunities.
Built for homeowners who wanted a fully functional kitchen without sacrificing their floor plan to it, this project required creative problem-solving at every turn.
Custom cabinetry maximizes vertical storage with cabinets that reach the ceiling, while carefully planned drawer configurations – complete with hidden drawers along the kick panel – ensure that every utensil, pot, and pantry item has a designated home.
A compact kitchen doesn’t mean a compromise kitchen; it means a kitchen where every design decision has been weighed, measured, and justified.
When space is limited, you don’t just need more storage—you need smarter storage. Pull-out spice racks keep dozens of jars organized and accessible without consuming precious counter or shelf space.
Toe-kick drawers along the floor, typically dead space beneath base cabinets, transform into shallow storage perfect for baking sheets, cutting boards, or serving platters.
Corner drawers eliminate the black hole where Tupperware lids go to die, making every inch of those awkward corner spaces actually usable. Deep drawers with full-extension glides mean you can access items at the very back without contortion, while pull-out trash and recycling bins keep waste management tucked away but convenient.
The entire design is 100% real wood, and under-cabinet lighting adds task illumination exactly where you need it. This isn’t just a pretty kitchen; it’s a workshop where everything has been engineered for maximum efficiency.
In my line of work I am privileged to view the final product of many different contractors. It wasn’t a difficult choice to choose Bigfoot based on what I saw on job sites. What was different, was the utter amount of understanding and care that went into designing exactly what I pictured.
During our initial consultation, Wade was given a vague description of what I wanted and shown maybe two reference photos. He convincingly (and rightfully so) talked me out of a terrible idea and offered a solution- a fabulous solution.
Wade saw my vision. He knew just the right stain to pick, the absolute perfect wood and completed it all with perfection. He didn’t bat an eye when I gave him the off the wall color choice for my built in tops, that saint of a human rolled with all my punches.
What started out as my dream kitchen remodel has evolved into an amazing friendship. There isn’t another custom cabinet builder in our area who has as much dedication as this team and I am forever grateful.
