Some spaces demand more than standard solutions. This modern Wisconsin lake home project showcases how custom woodwork can become the bridge between contemporary architecture and timeless craftsmanship.
Bigfoot Construction was brought in to create cabinetry and built-ins that would complement the home’s clean lines and soaring ceilings while adding warmth through expertly chosen materials. From the main kitchen to the thoughtfully designed wet bar and master suite, every custom piece serves both form and function.
The floating stair treads on the custom staircase with their rich wood tones set the aesthetic standard for the cabinetry throughout – a study in how modern design and traditional craftsmanship can not only coexist but elevate each other.
The hero of this home is undoubtedly the open custom staircase – floating treads in warm, richly grained wood that appear to suspend effortlessly in the two-story entry. This wasn’t just an architectural feature to work around; it became the design anchor for every cabinet and built-in that followed.
The kitchen cabinetry picks up those same warm wood tones, creating visual harmony between structural elements and functional spaces.
The wet bar continues this language: clean lines, no fuss, just beautifully executed woodwork that feels like it was always meant to be there. Hardware choices throughout are deliberately understated, allowing the quality of the wood and the precision of the joinery to take center stage.
In the guest suite, built-in storage solutions maximize functionality without compromising the room’s clean, uncluttered feel. This is design that understands restraint – knowing when to make a statement and when to let the architecture breathe.
We are very happy with Wade and his taam for building our cabinetry and doing our finish work in our home. We have recommended him to others and will be going to him in the future for other projects. Thank you Bigfoot Construction!
